Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would be moving to a foreign country to live, let alone a country in the Middle East. Over the 2009 Christmas and New Year’s holidays, my husband Roger and I discussed what we wanted the next part of our life to be like. He thought that before retiring, he would like to do one more airport project but only if he could find something very interesting. I half-jokingly agreed that would be fine but could he try for an exotic location? As usual, Roger came through and soon we were headed to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. This blog is a recap of our "leap-of- faith" wanderings around the Middle East and beyond. We joyfully share these expat experiences.

TripAdvisor EveryTrail Walking Tour . . . Dubai’s Art Galleries and Architecture

Sheikh Zayed Road

My assignment from TripAdvisor to develop five walking tours of Dubai is complete. Here are the final two tours.

Enjoy a special collection of Dubai finest art galleries in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC)  - DIFC Gate Village Art Galleries, an exciting mix of fine art, photography, masters and emerging artists.

Too hot to walk about? Try this fun Dubai Metro tour that follows the infamous Sheikh Zayed Road and shows off Dubai's iconic buildings - Skyscraper City - New Dubai.

Cuadro Fine Art Gallery

I can finally check off my bucket list a tour of the DIFC GateVillage Art Galleries

This is an excellent location for viewing a wide selection of premier contemporary and modern art. Enjoy fine art photography, masters and emerging artists and the finest examples of Islamic and Arabic selected from a private collection.

Take notice of the galleries that list tours available for a truly personal experience.

The final Walking Tour was the most fun because it was all new to me – A metro tour of the unique architecture of Dubai – “Skyscraper City – New Dubai”

Dubai Marina's"Super Tall" District
Beginning in the 1980s developers and architects were in a mad rush to outdo each other with the most outlandish skyscraper designs. This results in an ultimately bizarre skyline for the area known as “New Dubai.”

Slicing through the middle of these monsters is the Sheikh Zayed Road (SZR). A portion of the Dubai Metro Red Line runs snugly along side the SZR providing a captivating view of these magnificent giants and the surrounding areas.

Want to vote on the tour? Just under the title are 5 stars. Place your cursor on the star rating you want to give the tour – 1 star is the lowest/5 stars is the best – and click!

Enjoy!

Thanks . . . Many thank to Roberto at Cuadro Fine Art Gallery for his assistance in putting the DIFC Art Gallery Tour together.

And is there any greater friend then someone who will ride the Dubai Metro with you all day long? Thanks Robin Loving for your friendship and adventurous spirit.
